WEST WINDSOR, N.J.—Freshmen Penelope Fantis (Fallston, Md./Fallston) scored with 1:30 remaining in regulation to propel the Harford women's soccer team to a 3-2 win over Mercer last Friday in West Windsor, N.J.

In a rare display so far in the 2009 season, the Fighting Owls (12-1) were outshot by the Vikings (11-4), 20-12 and the two teams were tied at two goals apiece going into the half.  Mercer wasted absolutely no time as it notched its first goal just 30 seconds into the start of the game and it would be over 17 minutes before the high-powered Harford offense would answer.

Freshman Erin Lynn (Fallston, Md./Fallston) fired a cross into the box that the Harford offensive unit crashed and which freshman Kayla Siverd (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace) managed to get a foot on to knot the score at the 18:08 mark.

Seven minutes later, the Owls would take their first lead of the game as freshman Alexa Carlevaro (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) finished sophomore Becca Bazemore's (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright) corner kick during the 26th minute, but Carolyn Walters would feed Kasey Kenny at the 36:10 mark to tie the game up at two goals each.

Both keepers were brilliant down the stretch, as freshman Cierra Stinson (Parkville, Md./Mercy) finished with 13 saves in 90:00 and Brianna Bryne totaled nine in 90:00, but Harford managed to sneak one more by in the final minutes as Fantis connected with freshman Beth Lambros's (Forest Hill, Md./North Harford) at the 43:30 mark to notch the game-winner.

In addition to outshooting Harford, the Vikings also held a 4-2 advantage on corner kicks.
