Erin Clary spent the first season at Harford laying the foundation of a program that should reach new levels of success in the MD JUCO Conference and Region annually.

Clary led the Fighting Owls to the third-most wins in school history, both overall (15) and in conference play (13). Only the 2002 and 2003 teams won more games than Clary's bunch in her first year.

The team's 13-9-1 MD JUCO record was five games better than the 2013 squad and the program's first finish above .500 within the conference since 2009 when the team finished 11-9.

As a team, Harford improved in nearly every offensive category. They hit for a .316 average, a mark that was 16 points higher than last season's .300 mark. They improved from .377 to .394 in the on-base category and from .425 to .429 in slugging. Overall, Harford scored 209 runs in 2014, a 42 run improvement over 2013's 167 run output.

Clary led a pair of All-MD JUCO perfomers in Madison Smith and Tori Brooks. Brooks was a presence in the middle of the order for the Fighting Owls, blasting seven home runs, second most in the MD JUCO conference. The power hitting shortstop drove in 29 runs in her rookie season and slugged .539, while Smith tallied 33 steals, also good for second in the conference.

Prior to coming to Harford Community College, Clary spent one year as an assistant at Washington & Jefferson College, an NCAA Division III school in Washington, Pa. She helped the Presidents reach their first conference tournament appearance since 2007 with 25 victories.

As a student-athlete at Lock Haven, Clary earned All-PSAC honors as a junior and was a three-year starter at shortstop. As a freshman, she was part of the 51-6 Lady Eagles NCAA National Championship team.

A career .308 hitter, Clary enjoyed her best season in 2011, batting .339 with a career-best 11 doubles for the 26-14 Lady Eagles. LHU reached the PSAC and NCAA Tournament all four years of her stellar career. In all, Clary collected 117 hits, 29 doubles, one triple, five home runs and 41 RBIs while stealing 20 bases and scoring 92 runs.

Clary played high school softball at Susquehannock in New Freedom, Pa., where she was a two-time PIAA State Champion at AAA. She also earned First-Team All-State shortstop as a junior and senior.

Clary graduated from Lock Haven with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2012.
