Harford Community College Athletics

In all, Budelis has won 274 matches between the men's and women's teams, earning his 200th career win on March 16, 2015, a women's team win against Cabrini.

Under Budelis' guidance, the Fighting Owls have taken home 13 men's regional titles and 10 women's crowns. In 2003 and from 2009-15, Harford claimed both the men's and women's championships.

Among those ITA All-Americans, Roger Torres ('07) and Dale Thornton ('03) were both named First-Team All-Americans and won a National Championship. Torres was also named ITA National Player of the Year in a category that included both Division I and III student-athletes.



Budelis guided the men’s team to an undefeated dual record in 2011 (14-0) and finished 17th at the NJCAA National Tournament in the team's first year as a Division I program. The Fighting Owls finished the campaign ranked 17th in the nation via the ITA Poll, its highest finish in school history.

Felipe dos Santos finished his magical career at Harford in 2012 with the program record 67 career wins at both singles and doubles. In his final NJCAA National Tournament, dos Santos reached the semifinals at No. 1 singles, earning ITA All-American honors.

Budelis has guided a pair of backdraw champions in the 2011 and 2012 NJCAA National Tournaments at the Division I level. In 2011, Jason Wright won the No. 3 singles backdraw and in 2012, Farai Chiridza was the backdraw champ at No. 3 singles.

With all the success on the court, Budelis has routinely boasted the best GPA for both teams in the entire athletic department year after year. In 2013, the men's team was the top GPA in the department and the sixth best GPA among all men's tennis teams in the nation.

In 2011, both teams were competing at the Division I level in the NJCAA during the spring season. Prior to that, both teams were participating at the Division II level, with the men's team playing in the spring and the women's team in the fall. During the 2001-02 season, the teams switched seasons, with the men going from the fall to the spring and the women from the spring to the fall.
