BEL AIR, Md.—The Harford baseball team wrapped up the weekend on Saturday as they dropped a doubleheader with Montgomery College-Germantown, 9-7 and 18-3 on Sunday at Harford Baseball Field.  The Fighting Owls (21-17, 11-11 MDJUCO) kicked off the stretch with a seven-inning, 11-1 loss to CCBC-Catonsville before splitting a doubleheader at Frederick, winning game one 5-1 and falling 14-4 in  five-inning game two on Saturday.

The Owls took  6-0 lead into the fourth in game one on Sunday, but gave up five in the fourth and four in the sixth while adding just one of their own in the fourth on the way to the 9-7 loss.

Freshman Jon Candelaria (1-1) (Joppatowne, Md./Joppatowne) suffered the hard-luck loss, after putting the tying and winning runs on base in the sixth and giving up a total of three runs on a hit by pitch, walk and fielder's choice in one inning.  John Brauch (2-0) earned the win, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out two in five innings.

John Wagner notched the winning two-run fielder's choice RBI in the sixth and finished 1-for-3 on the day with one run scored, three RBI, a double and a walk, while Dan Martinez was 1-for-2 with two runs scored, three RBI, two walks and a three-run homer.

Game two saw the Gryphons (20-11, 9-7 MDJUCO) jump to a 5-0 lead in the first, which would prove to be enough as the Owls tallied just two runs in the first and one in the second, while Germantown added three in the second and 10 more in the fourth on the way to the 18-3 win.

Freshman Simon Beloff (0-2) (Jupiter, Fla./Jupiter/Old Dominion) was tabbed with the loss after giving up five runs on four hits, while securing zero outs.  Chris Cross earned the win, allowing just two runs on one hit in three innings of work.

Friday saw the Owls take a 1-0 lead over the Cardinals (16-15, 9-9 MDJUCO) with an RBI single from freshman Krider, but they would be held scoreless for the remainder of the game as Catonsville rolled to the 11-1, seven-inning win.

Frederick would add one run in the fifth, but the Owls would answer with two more in the sixth off another Cougar error and a sacrifice fly by Beloff on the way to the 5-1 win.

Game two saw Harford take a quick, 1-0 lead off a wild pitch that allowed Harbach to cross the plate before freshman Chris Peacher (Abingdon, Md./Harford Tech) was shelled in the bottom of the inning, giving up eight runs (six of them earned) on four hits and walking four in one-third of an inning.
