GERMANTOWN, Md.—Three players tallied home runs as the Harford baseball team won its 16th and 17th straight games with a doubleheader sweep over Montgomery College-Germantown, 8-5 and 8-4, on Saturday at Germantown.

Sophomores Joe Harbach (Abingdon, Md./Edgewood) and Woody Wlodarczyk (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) went back-to-back in the first inning of game one, while sophomore Mike Krider (State College, Pa./State College) blasted a three-run shot in the seventh inning that sealed the game two for Harford.

Sophomore Willie Barnola (Barquisimeto, Venezuela/ UEC J.G. Bastidas) led Harford, going 5-for-8 on the day with three runs and a double, while sophomore Jordan Heller (Loch Raven, Md./Loch Raven/Chesapeake) was 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, three RBI and sacrifice bunt and also picked up a save in game one with one hitless and scoreless inning, which saw him strike out one batter.

On the mound, freshmen Jordan Lozzi (Fallston, Md./Fallston) and Corey Taylor (Fallston, Md./Fallston) picked up the day's wins with Lozzi (4-0) lasting four innings and allowing just two runs on four hits, while striking out four in game one and Taylor (3-2) giving up two runs on 10 hits while fanning four in five innings in game two.

Taylor Schallhorn led the Gryphons (13-10, ), going 3-for-4 on the day with one run, a triple, three RBI, two walks and sac fly, while Matt Civetti, John Wagner and Peter Barrett each tallied a homer for Germantown.

Travis Hart and Chris Cross suffered the losses for the Gryphons, with Hart allowing eight runs on 11 hits and striking out three in 5.1 innings and Cross giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits and fanning three batters in 5.2 innings.

Harford quickly took a 3-0 lead in game one after Harbach's two-run homer and Wlodarczyk's solo bomb, but Wagner would tally a long ball of his own and Matt Miller added an RBI single to make it 3-2 after the first.

Three Harford runs in the third off a Gryphon error and RBI singles by Wlodarczyk and sophomore Mike Maxwell (Salem, N.J./Woodstown) would be all that the Owls needed.  Germantown did rally back, however, scoring three in the fifth off Barrett's two-run homer and Schallhorn's sac fly to make it a one-run game before Harford tacked on two more in the sixth on the way to the 8-5 win.

Game two saw Germantown take its first lead of the day as Schallhorn stole home in the second, but Harford would knot the score in the third after Harbach's RBI single.  The Owls took the lead for good with a single run in both the fourth and fifth to make it a 3-1 game before Civetti's solo homer put the Gryphons within one, 3-2.

A two-run RBI single from Heller put the Harford lead back up to three, 5-2, in the sixth and with two out and two runners on, Krider smashed a ball over the centerfield fence to give Harford a comfortable 8-2 lead going into the bottom of the seventh.

Germantown rallied with a two-run RBI triple from Schallhorn, but ultimately fell short on the way to the 8-4 Harford victory.
