BEL AIR, Md. -
A pair of goals in the final 10 minutes of play gave the Harford men's soccer team a 2-0-0 start to the 2010 season, as the Fighting Owls defeated Delaware Tech-Stanton on Monday, 2-0, at Harford Stadium. Freshman Jacob Duarte broke the stalemate in the 81st minute with a tremendous effort from 30 yards out.

Classmate Bryan Carnaggio sent the ball deep down the left sideline over the Stanton defense. As Duarte broke free, the Spirit 'keeper charged at him about 30 yards away from the net, but the rookie midfielder was able to flip the ball over the goalie and send it into the net for the game's first tally.

The game was evenly played for the first half, as both teams were only able to scratch out two shots each. While the second half seemed to be leaning in Harford's favor, Stanton started the final 45 with a pair of point-blank efforts that were snuffed out by sophomore goalie George Tsakiris. After that, the Fighting Owls took control but could not find the back of the net. But in the game's final moments, Duarte gave Harford the victory, notching his second game-winning goal in as many games.

Just 3:13 after Duarte's goal, sophomore Derek Hyde was able to flick a header over the arms of the goalie off a perfect free kick from 25 yards out to put the game away. It was Hyde's second goal of the season and freshman Kevin Connely's second helper on the year.

Tsakiris earned his first shutout of the season, making five saves to improve to 2-0-0 on the season.

The Fighting Owls travel to face Prince George's on Wednesday before returning to Harford Stadium in the night cap of a Thursday doubleheader against Terry at 7 p.m.
