Women's Basketball Upended At Southern Maryland

LA PLATA, Md. - The Harford women's basketball team (6-11, 1-7) dropped a road conference game at Southern Maryland on Wednesday, 63-55.

Despite the loss, Tiffany Taylor continued her Student-Athlete of the Month status with 26 points, 10 rebounds and six steals while playing injured. It was the seventh game this season in which Taylor totaled at least five steals, including three straight. She ranks 13th nationally in that category.

Wednesday also marked the 16th time this season Taylor tallied double digits in the scoring column, while recording double figures in the rebounding column for the fifth time this year. This was her sixth career double-double.

The Fighting Owls trailed by four at the half and led 44-42 with seven minutes remaining, but could not hold onto the lead.

Sarah Knight recorded a career-high 10 rebounds in the loss. She nabbed a previous career-best eight rebounds in her last game. Prior to her 18 rebounds in her her last two games, Knight totaled 18 rebounds in her first 12 games of the year.

The Fighting Owls return home for a special contest on Saturday at noon. The opening game of a doubleheader with Baltimore City will be the final doubleheader of the Susquehanna Center before the Athletics Department renovates the gymnasium. The contest will also be televised by the Harford Sports Network.
