AIKEN, S.C. - The Harford softball team dropped its first five contests of the 2011 season at the Aiken Tech Tournament over the weekend.

The Fighting Owls were defeated by Aiken Tech 17-0, Gordon 14-3 and USC-Salkehatchie 13-0 on Friday. They were eliminated from the tournament on Saturday after losses to USC-Lancaster 17-3 and Surry 11-0. Playing against tough division I competition, all five games lasted five innings.

Rachael Lange pitched well in all five games and provided some offense that included a two-run double against Lancaster. She also pitched 1 2/3 innings of relief against Aiken without allowing a hit.

The Fighting Owls return to action on March 9 at Southern Maryland.
