Baseball Earns Extra-Innings Win To Improve To 22-6

NORTH EAST, Md. - The Harford baseball team (22-6, 7-2) forced extra innings with a six-run ninth inning and scored the winning run in the 10th to win a road conference game at Cecil on Tuesday, 13-12. Freshman Jason Seilter earned the victory in relief.

Sophomore Christian Wolfe connected on a leadoff double in the 10th inning, and came around to score the game-winning run on an RBI-single by James Wilson.

Wilson and Anthony Ortiz both had a team-best three hits in the win, and both came up big in the seven-hit, six-run ninth inning that put the Fighting Owls back in the game. Harford led 5-1 and 6-4 before falling behind 10-6 in the bottom of the eighth.

Jonathan Castro started the ninth inning off with a double and later scored on Cory Shaver's single up the middle. Nick Octavi knocked in two with a single to right center and Kyle Lindsey doubled home a pair to tie the game at 10-10. He came around and scored on Alex Riley's single down the right field line to give the Fighting Owls a short lived 11-10 lead.

Cecil scored with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, to set up the Harford heroics in the 10th.

Dom Vattuone pitched seven solid innings before running into trouble in the eight inning. He struck out six and allowed five hits and six runs, five earned. Seitler earned the win with 2.1 innings of work, striking out four and scattering five hits.

The Fighting Owls travel to face Essex on Wednesday. The game time of the conference showdown has been moved up to 3:30 p.m.
