BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford baseball team (28-8) earned a huge doubleheader sweep with playoff implications over Potomac State (21-8) on Sunday. The Fighting Owls collected a 12-2 win in five innings in game one, and a 6-5 win in 11 innings in the nightcap.
Harford now sits 3-1 in contests against Region XX Division I opponents with four games against two opponents remaining. The top two seeds in the tournament recieve a bye.
Harford 12, Potomac State 2 (5)
The Fighting Owls received another quality outing from starter
Corey Taylor, who was backed with 12 runs on 15 hits in the opener. Eight Fighting Owls collected at least one hit in the win.
Simon Beloff went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run in the first inning. He added a double and three RBIs and moved his batting average to over .300 for the first time in over a month at .303.
James Wilson also tallied three hits, scoring twice and knocking in two more.

Nick Octavi chipped in with two hits.
Jonathan Castro reached base three times in four at bats scoring twice and knocking in two more.
Taylor went five innings, striking out eight and allowing a pair of runs on six hits.
Harford 6, Potomac State 5, (11)
Castro connected on a walk-off double, scoring Ortiz with the winning run in the 11th inning, giving Harford the doubleheader sweep.
Taylor Nelson pitched seven innings of nearly perfect baseball in relief. The righthander pitched five perfect innings, allowed a leadoff bunt single in the 10th, and retired the next six batters to earn the win and improve to 4-1 on the season.
The Fighting Owls fell behind 4-0 and 5-2 before starting the comeback trail. Harford plated two in the sixth, one in the seventh with two outs to force extras before the Castro game-winning hit.
The Fighting Owls host Prince George's on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
