Baseball Earns 39th WIn Over Defending Champions, 13-3

BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford baseball team (39-11) defeated defending Division III national champion Gloucester on Tuesday, 13-3 in eight innings. Kyle Lindsey went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.

Anthony Ortiz went 3-for-4 with five RBIs, including a two-run home run to left-center, his second of the year. The Fighting Owls totaled 15 hits and scored the game's final 13 runs.

The Harford pitching staff allowed just three hits in the win. Ted Fletcher pitched the first, allowing just a two-run double, before Jamie Pashuck, who improved to 5-0 and lowered his earned-run average to 0.93, came in to pitch four-scoreless innings of one-hit baseball. Dom Vattuone pitched three innings, allowing just one hit, to record the three-inning save.

Christian Wolfe scored three times, while Lindsey, Ortiz, Simon Beloff and Cory Sahver all scored twice.

The Fighting Owls travel to Garrett on Wednesday for a doubleheader.
