BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford baseball team (43-11) added to its already school record win total with a pair of victories over Baltimore City on Friday. The Fighting Owls scored 13 runs in both contests, ending them early, 13-3 in six innings and 13-1 in five.
The Fighting Owls currently rank No. 2 in all of college baseball in wins. Only Central Arizona College (another NJCAA DI school) has more notches in the win column with 44. Harford, Virgina (an NCAA DI school) and West Florida (an NCAA DII school) each have 43.
Harford 13, BCCC 3
All nine Fighting Owl starters collected at least one hits in the opener, where the offense totaled 17 hits. Harford scored in all but one inning, including a five-run first where 10 batters came to the plate.
Simon Beloff and
Christian Wolfe both went 3-for-4 in the win. Beloff connected on a pair of home runs, giving him six on the year and tying him with Wolfe for the team-lead. Wolfe added a pair of doubles. The dynamic duo combined for five runs and five RBIs.
Dom Vattuone earned the win on the hill, improving to 4-3.
Jack Hine and
Vinnie Cautillo combined to pitch three innings of one-hit relief.
Harford 13, BCCC 1
Eleven different Fighting Owls scored a run in the nightcap win.
James Wilson went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and
Anthony Ortiz added two runs and a pair of hits.
Jordan Kunkel went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI.
Taylor Nelson improved to 5-2 on the mound, while
Mike Solomon pitched a pair of scoreless innings in relief.
The Fighting Owls travel to Neuman College on Tuesday.
