BALTIMORE - The Harford women's basketball team (11-15, 4-9 MD JUCO) lost its final game of the regular season on Tuesday at Baltimore City (9-18, 5-8 MD JUCO), 58-52. The Fighting Owls were playing without leading scorer and all-conference candidate
Shelby Key, who was out due to injury.
The Fighting Owls dominated in the paint, outscoring the Panthers 40-24, but playing with a short bench, Harford was outmanned 25-0 on bench points.
Alannah Galloway tied the game at 46-46 with a fast-break layup with 5:51 remaining, but the Panthers stretched the lead to six and held on for the win.
Galloway led the Fighting Owls with 14 points and recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds.
Rachel Cocoros and
Bree Lewis each scored 11 points, while
Kourtney Orr added nine markers, 14 rebounds and a career-high six blocked shots.
The Fighting Owls will travel for the opening round of the 2012 MD JUCO Basketball Tournament on Feb. 14 against an opponent to be determined in the next few days. With a win, Harford will advance to the quartefinal round on Feb. 16 at Frederick.
