Stallings Helps Baseball Earn 29th Win, 8-1

BEL AIR, Md. - Another solid outing from the Fighting Owl pitching staff led the Harford baseball team (29-7, 14-1 MD JUCO) to its 29th victory of the season. Nick Stallings held Essex (16-12, 9-7 MD JUCO) at bay all night long in an 8-1 victory at home on Tuesday.

Stallings (6-1) took a no-hitter into the seventh inning while striking out 11 batters. He finished with one hit allowed in seven innings, with the lone hit being a two-out RBI single that just landed on the fair side of the rightfield line. The rookie left hander set down the first 12 batters in order while striking out 10 in the first five innings.

The outing marked the second-straight performance where Stallings went seven innings whiler allowing just one hit. Last Wednesday, the freshman tossed a complete game shutout where the only hit was a pop up that was lost in the sun. In his last three outings, Stallings has struck out 31 batters while walking just three in 22.0 innings.

Jade Wilson struck out the side in a 1-2-3 eighth inning, while Norm Donkin pitched a one-hit ninth inning to seal the win. Harford led 3-1 when Wilson entered the game, but a five-run eighth inning put the game out of reach. In all, Harford struck out 15 batters in the win.

James Wilson, who has sit safely in 26 of his last 29 games, led the offensive charge with a 3-for-4 night. Cory Shaver had a pair of hits with three RBIs, while Donkin and Jerry Jerminski also chipped in with two hits.

The Fighting Owls host Neumann on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
