Box Score
BEL AIR, Md. -
Cory Shaver connected on an 0-1 pitch with two outs in the ninth inning, sending the No. 17 Harford baseball team to its 30th victory of the year. The Fighting Owls (30-8, 16-1 MD JUCO) were walkoff winners over CCBC Dundalk (10-11, 5-11 MD JUCO), 7-6.
The Fighting Owls jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but the bullpen almost wasted another great start from
Brandon Franke, allowing the Lions to score four in the eighth and two in the ninth. With two outs, Harford put runners on the corners and Shaver clubbed a single over the rightfielder's head at the base of the wall sending the Fighting Owls home winners.
Harford totaled just four hits in the win, but benefited from five Dundalk errors, including a pair in the ninth. Shaver also connected on a double, while
Anthony Ortiz and
Dennis Mitchell collected the other hits in the win.
Franke scattered four hits in six innings of scoreless baseball, striking out seven and walking a pair.
Matt Petrizzi improved to 4-0 on the mound, despite blowing the save in the ninth inning.
The Fighting Owls travel to Chesapeake on Saturday for a conference and Region XX Division I doubleheader.
