ABERDEEN, Md. - The No. 17 Harford basebal team avenged its only MD JUCO loss of the season with a shutout victory over Cecil in a game played at Ripken Stadium on Thursday night. Five members of the Fighting Owls pitching staff combined for a three-hit shutout.
Brandon Franke (3-2) pitched three innings of two-hit baseball to earn the win. He struck out four without issueing a walk. He was followed by
Ryan Neukam's two innings of one-hit baseball.
Nick Stallings,
RJ Heinlen and
Matt Petrizzi combined to pitch the final four innings without allowing another hit.
In all, the Fighting Owls (34-8, 19-1 MD JUCO) held the most powerful offense in the conference to three hits, all singles. The Seahawks (30-15, 15-5 MD JUCO) lead the conference in home runs including having the top three players in the home run category in the lineup. Harford enduces three groundball double plays in the win.
Offensively, each Fighting Owl collected either one hit or one run scored in the victory as the team totaled 11 hits.
Kyle Lindsey put the game out of reach with a two-run double in the sixth inning. He was one of three players with thre hits.
James Wilson had a pair of hits including a triple and
Jerry Jerminski had a pair of singles and an RBI.
Dennis Mitchell had an RBI double and
Anthony Ortiz followed Lindsey's two-run double with a sacrifice fly in the sixth.
The Fighting Owls travel to Brookdale for a doubleheader on Friday.
