Men's Soccer's Conference Streak Snapped At Home

Box Score
BEL AIR, Md. - For the first time 15 games, the Harford men's soccer team lost an MD JUCO contest when the Fighting Owls fell to Howard, 2-1, on Wednesday evening. The defending conference champions last lost a conference game at Montgomery-Rockville, two seasons ago, on Oct. 15, 2010.

During the remarkable stretch, the Fighting Owls went 14-0-1 and had won 11-straight contests. Wednesday night's game came down to the wire, but the Dragons packed the box in the final moments, twarting any comeback effort by Harford.

Saidu Sankoh scored his third goal of the season in the game's ninth minute off a deflection from Carmine Hess and a remarkable throw in from Lucas Ward.

The Dragons countered with a goal off a corner kick from Max Graumann in the 15th minute, and the game remained knotted until the second half.

After a long through ball, Won Ho Bang chipped one over goalie Windell Reid for the game-winning tally in the 47th minute. Harford had numerous scoring chances late, but the Dragon defense sent away all challenges.

The Fighting Owls 11 consecutive conference victories was a program-best. They fall to 0-2-0 on the season, while the Dragons earned their first win of the year and sit at 1-2-1.

Harford challenges CCBC Essex on Friday as part of a soccer doubleheader with the women's team. Both teams look for their first victory of the year as the women's game starts at 5 p.m. and the men at 7 p.m.
