BEL AIR, Md. - In what figured to be a matchup of top teams in their respective regions, it was the No. 25 Harford women (17-1) who jumped all over Globe Tech (8-5) on Thursday at home, 98-42.
Capree Garner and
Shelby Key both totaled a triple-double in the win.
Harford scored the first 17 points of the game and led 28-1 midway through the first half. The Fighting Owls connected on 12-of-21 shots before the Knights finally made a basket at the 9:37 mark in the opening stanza.
The Fighting Owl defense held Globe to 5-for-37 shooting in the first half while forcing 18 turnovers. Overall, the swarming Harford defense forced 33 turnovers.
Garner continued her fantastic freshman campaign with her second career triple-double. The rookie had 32 points, 12 rebounds and 10 steals. She added six assists while shooting 12-of-20 from the floor and 8-of-9 from the line.
Teammate Key collected her third triple-double of the season (a school record) and her school-record fourth of her career. She totaled 20 points (16 in the second half), 13 assists and 12 steals. She just missed the quadruple-double with eight rebounds.
Tiffany Taylor scored a season-high 29 points while pulling in seven rebounds. Na'Kya Keitt added nine markers off the bench.
The Fighting Owls travel to Prince George's on Saturday.
