BEL AIR, Md. - After falling behind 3-0 early in its 2013 home opener, a four-run fourth inning propelled the Harford baseball team to its first win of the season. The Fighting Owls scored seven-straight runs in a 7-6 victory over Camden on Wednesday.
Sophomore
Norm Donkin had a key two-run single in the fourth inning, and struck out four batters to collect his first two-inning save of the year. His lone base hit of the night plated
Jon McAllister and
Shane Garrett to extend Harford's lead to 6-3. He later scored the winning run on
Jordan Glover's infield single.
Both Garrett and Glover collected three hits in the win. Garrett had three singles and Glover recorded a double and a pair of singles in his collegiate debut.
Freshman
Cody Brittain allowed three runs in his first career start.
Carlos-Henri Ferre, who earned his first career win, recorded a 1-2-3 fourth inning before running into trouble in the fifth, allowing two runs.
Trevor Alley pitched a hitless 2.2 innings before Donkin shut the door.
Donkin, Glover and
Rob Koski each had two RBIs each. The Fighting Owls return to the Harford Sports Complex on Thursday for a doubleheader against Burlington.
