BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford baseball team (3-1) outscored Burlington, 28-1, in a doubleheader sweep on Thursday. Both games lasted just five innings, with the Fighting Owls winning the opener, 17-0, and the nightcap, 11-1.
The offense was the story on the brisk evening, as all but three members of the entire Fighting Owl roster collected a hit.
Nick Freeberger went 2-for-3 with five RBIs in the opener and
Jose Martinez totaled three hits and four RBIs in the doubleheader.
Harford jumped out to an 8-0 lead after one inning in game one, and scored in every inning.
Kyle Hurley held the Barons to three hits to earn his first win on the bump.
In game two, Harford chipped away offensively until blowing the game open in the fourth with a 6-spot.
Mike Torres earned his first victory, scattering five hits while striking out five.
Jerry Jerminski had two hits in both games, while
Jon McAllister went 2-for-2 in the opener with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs.
The Fighting Owls return to the Harford Sports Complex on Saturday for a doubleheader with Northampton, beginning at 11 a.m.
