BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford baseball team won its 30th game of the season in dramatic fashion on Tuesday. The Fighting Owls won the opener over Prince George's 14-4 before coming from behind in the nightcap, 6-5, thanks to
Norm Donkin's heroics.
The sophomore rightfielder clubbed his second home run of the day, a two-run shot, in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Fighting Owls a 6-5 lead. He then entered as the closer in the top of the seventh and pitched a perfect inning for his MD JUCO-leading eighth save.
Donkin went 2-for-3 with the game winning home run in game two after going 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs in the opener. He conected on a two-run shot in the fifth inning of the opener, as well.
Trevor Alley (3-0) was practically unhittable in game one, scattering two hits in five innings while striking out a career-high nine batters. Connor Schweinebart (2-0) got the win in game two. He allowed five runs on seven hits in five innings, striking out six and walking four.
Nick Freeberger went 3-for-3 in the opener, while Mat Petrizzi had a pair of hits.
Justin Gartner had a three-run triple in the 10-run win, as well.
Harford welcomes Cecil to the Harford Sports Complex on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
