Box Score SUPPLY, N.C. - The Harford women's basketball team (9-4) built an early lead and used clutch free throw shooting down the stretch to hand No. 11 Guilford Tech (9-2) its second loss of the season. The Fighting Owls never trailed in the contest, winning 68-58.
Harford jumped out to a 17-6 lead and controlled the pace of the contest throughout. The Titans mounted a rally, cutting the lead to 61-57 with two minutes remaining, but the Fighting Owls made defensive stops and connected on the freebies for their biggest win of the season. The victory was the fourth straight for Harford while snapping a six-game streak for Guilford Tech.
Ashley Smith again led the way in the scoring column with her second consecutive 20-point effort. She handed out six assists and made four steals in the win.
Mia Fitts grinded out 14 points and six boards while Ashley Hightower added 12 and eight for the Fighting Owls.
Endia Butler played her best game in blue, tying a career-high with 12 points while adding four steals.
The Fighting Owls look for the Christmas Classic sweep on Friday when they challenge Cape Fear (7-3) at noon.
