BEL AIR, Md. - Freshman pitcher
Nick Economos earn his first career victory in dominating fashion in Harford's 12-2 victory over Delaware County at home on Wednesday. The right-hander struck out a career-high 11 batters while allowing just one hit in five innings of work.
Economos struck out the side in the first and fifth innings. The second batter of the game laced a sharp single up the middle, but the rookie hurler retired the next 10 batters in a row, seven on Ks, the take control of the game. He allowed just the one hit while walking only one batter in his victory.
The offense gave him one run in the first and six in the fourth against an overmatched Phantom squad. DCCC scored a pair of unearned runs in the final inning.
Craig Joseph was one of four Fighting Owls with a pair of hits. He added a team-best three RBIs. The six run fourth featured an RBI double by
Justin Malehorn, a two-run double by Joseph and an RBI triple by
Rob Koski.
Harford hosts CCBC Dundalk on Thursday at 3 p.m.
