BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford softball team (4-6) dropped a pair of nonconference games to Mercer (11-2) on Saturday. The Fighting Owls lost 13-5 and 17-4.
Mercer 13, Harford 5
The game was tied at 5-5 heading into the final inning of play when Mercer erupted for eight unanswered runs for the win.
Fabiana Della-Monica had a pair of RBI doubles in the loss. She finished 2-of-3 with three RBIs.
Tori Brooks had sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth to knot the score at 5-5. She finished 1-for-1 with two runs scored. Sam Sullivan took the loss, her first of the season.
Mercer 17, Harford 4
The Fighting Owls took a 4-2 lead in the first but could not match the offensive fire power in the night cap. Young had a two-run triple to gve the team the lead, and
Madison Ferrara brought her home with an RBI groundout.
Sam Day went 3-for-3 and took the loss
The Fighting Owls host Montgomery on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
