Box Score 2 BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford baseball team (12-14-1, 5-3 MD JUCO) stormed out to an early lead in an 8-5 game one win over Frederick (23-3, 5-1 MD JUCO) on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Owls lost game two to the Cougars, 9-5.
Rob Koski crushed a two-run double to open the scoring in the first inning and the Fighting Owls plated four more in the second and never looked back, handng the Cougars to just their third loss of the season.
John Hetterman (1-1) tossed 3.2 innings in relief of
Austin Griffie to earn the win.
Alex Eckenrode earned his first save, pitching out a a minor jam in the seventh.
Eight of the nine Fighting Owl starters collected a hit in the win, led by
CJ Young's two-hit, three-RBI performance.
Frederick scored six first-inning runs surrounded by a 42-minute rain delay and cruised to the split.
Cody Brittain had three hits and
Justin Malehorn had a pair of knocks in the loss.
The Fighting Owls host CCBC Essex on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
