ROCHESTER, N.Y. - For the second-straight season, the ASA Avengers ended a magical women's basketball season for Harford in the NJCAA Division I District Tournament. ASA defeated the Fighting Owls 92-89 in overtime on Friday in the semifinals.
Capree Garner scored 31 points to lead Harford. She added seven assists and six rebounds in the loss.
Ashley Smith chipped in with 29 points and four assists including a staggering seven triples. Smith nailed a 3-pointer with 10 seconds remaining to force overtime.
Dasha Moore added 14 points and 13 boards while
Monique Cheek scored 10 points in the loss.Â
The loss ended the career of Garner, who will go down in school history as one of the all-time greats. She finished her career with a school record of 1,497 points and 246 steals.
Last season, the Fighting Owls fell in the District Final to ASA, 66-54. Head coach
Ashley Sammons has compiled a 48-10 record over the past two seasons, with two Region XX Championships and an MD JUCO Regular Season Crown.
