BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford baseball team earned their biggest doubleheader sweep of the season defeating the conference's top team, Cecil, 9-7 and 8-0. The Fighting Owls were victorious behind five home runs and a complete game shutout in game two.
The long ball parade got kick started by sophomore
Justin Malehorn, who clubbed a two-run shot, his first career home run, to tie the game at 3-3 in the second inning on Sophomore Day.
CJ Young and
Cody Brittain followed with RBI singles as the Fighting Owls turned a 3-0 defecit to a 5-3 lead in the second.
Daulton Weeks and
Rob Koski connected on solo home runs in game one, as the Fighting Owls scored in every inning of the win. Koski's long ball broke a 6-6 tie and the Fighting Owls added two more to lead 9-6.
Ben Collincini came in to record the last out for his conference-best fifth save.
Anthony Atticks improved to 4-2 in the win while
John Hetterman earned the hold with 2.2 innings of solid relief.
In game two, Harford batted around in the third and scored six times, but
Dalton Reed was the star of the nightcap. He tossed a seven-hit complete-game shutout to earn his fourth win. He kept the Seahawks potent offense off balance with his changeup and struck out three batters.
Brittain connected on a three-run homer in the third and
Tyler Napierala crushed his team-leading seventh homer over the Blue Monster in the fourth.
The Fighting Owls travel to Del Tech on Saturday.
