Box Score 2 BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford baseball team scored five runs in the ninth inning to claim the 2014 NJCAA DI Region XX Championship in exciting comeback fashion on Sunday. The Fighting Owls forced the decisive winner-take-all game with a 19-15 win in the first game of the day and won the title with a 13-10 Championship Game victory.
Cody Brittain capped off an amazing tournament with a three-run double down the leftfield line in the ninth for the game winner. Harford mounted the rally down two, with one out in the inning.
Tyler Napierala walked,
CJ Young singled through the left side and
Rob Koski worked a walk to load the bases before Brittain crushed his 10th hit of the tournament. He finished 10-for-21 with 10 runs scored and 13 RBIs.
James English recorded the final five outs of the game to earn the win. He also got the win in game one, tossing two innings to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team. English struck out the final two batters before the dogpile celebration on the mound.
Jake Molison also landed on the All-Tournament Team after going 4-for-5 with a triple and five RBIs in game one. Brittain,
Daulton Weeks, Koski and
Craig Joseph also were on the team. Brittain went 4-for-7 in game one with six runs and five RBIs with a home run.
The Fighting Owls advance to the NJCAA Eastern District Championships hosted by Region X Champion USC-Sumter next weekend.
