BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford men's soccer team used a total team effort to shutout Howard on Sophomore Night on Thursday. Freshman
Corey Alt netted his sixth goal and
Justin Almquist posted a shutout and collected a goalie assist in the win.
Almquist made five saves in earning his third career clean sheet. The backline of sophomores
Ben Smith,
Brandon Waite and
Colin Leary played a solid defensive game in front of Almquist.
After a back-and-forth but scoreless first half, the Dragons had the first real scoring chance of the second half. Almquist was forced to make a leaping save and then sent a long punt over the Dragons and to the head of
John Lynn. Lynn quickly flicked it with his head straight to a streaking Alt in one touch and Alt chipped the ball over the goalie into the back corner of the net for the game's lone tally.
The win moved Harford up the MD JUCO standings with a 7-3-1 mark and 22 points.
