BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 contest at home to Howard in a battle for the MD JUCO Championship on Thursday. The Dragon defense held the Fighting Owls and MD JUCO leading scorer
Angela Kuhn in check throughout the evening.
Howard's Darcey Bodziony recorded her fifth shutout of the season, making seven saves. The Fighting Owls had about five scoring chances, but Bodziony and her defensive mates held Harford scoreless each time.
Natalie Decker and a few point-blank chances, and following game's only goal, a pair of Fighting Owls tried to score on a scramble in the box. Kuhn was held scoreless for just the second time this season, executing just three total shots.
The Dragons snuck one past
Jazmine Thacker in the game's 72nd minute when Elisa Mobley was left alone in the box and hammered home a cross from Jen Craven.
The loss marked the first time Harford lost to Howard since 2005, despite the Dragons being one of the best teams in the conference over the past few seasons.
