Men's Soccer Tops Frederick, 3-2

BEL AIR, Md. – The Harford Men's Soccer team came out on top to beat Frederick, 3-2, in a seesaw battle Friday afternoon.

Corey Alt scored the game-winner, his third goal of the season, in the 79th minute to give Harford (4-4-1, 4-3-0 MD JUCO) a crucial conference win. The win put Harford level with Frederick (7-3, 4-3 MD JUCO) as both teams now sit firmly in the middle of the standings with 12 points each.

Frederick jumped ahead in the early going thanks to a goal in the eighth minute from Lorenzo Bolanos. He is second in the MD JUCO conference with 13 goals scored.

Noah Walker scored his first goal of the season just moments before halftime. He scored the equalizer in the 44th minute to send the Fighting Owls into halftime with a positive vibe despite the nasty weather.

Caleb Hebb scored a go-ahead goal in the 58th minute. Hebb's 3rd of the season put him even with Alt for the team lead, and more importantly gave the Fighting Owls a 2-1 lead.

The Cougars found an equalizer of their own just ten minutes after falling behind. Gustavo Garcia scored his third of the season in the 68th minute to draw Frederick level and set up a thrilling finish.

It was Alt who provided the climax as he was able to put one in the back of the net with just over ten minutes to play. The Fighting Owls were able to hold on and finally came out on top of yet another game decided by one goal. They lost each of their last two games by a score of 1-0, falling to Montgomery and CCBC Essex on the road.

Justin Almquist had a strong game in goal, saving five of the seven shots that were on goal.

Harford will have to battle the elements as well as fatigue as they face a quick turnaround with two games in two days. They will play host to Mercer County Saturday with kickoff scheduled for 11 a.m.
