WINTERVILLE, N.C. - The Harford softball team (0-1) dropped its season-opening contest, 4-2, at Pitt CC (9-2) on Sunday. The second game of the doubleheader was canceled due to freezing rain.

Sophomore shortstop Tori Brooks clubbed a two-run home run in her first 2015 at bat to give the Fighting Owls a 2-0 lead. 

Freshman pitcher Desi Joines made a solid collegiate debut. She held the Bulldogs to just four runs, two earned, in her first contest, and Pitt CC has scored at least six runs in seven of 11 games so far this year.

A two-out, two-run error gave the Bulldogs the 4-2, and the Harford offense, in its first game outside this season, was unable to produce any more runs.

The Fighting Owls host Burlington on Friday, March 6, in their home opener.
