Box Score BEL AIR, Md. - On a miserable afternoon at the Harford Sports Complex, the Fighting Owls baseball team (6-3) put on an offensive onslaught to win its fifth-straight, dropping Delaware County 28-5. The Fighting Owls batted around twice in the first inning, scoring 15 times.
Brett Hash,
Dominic DiSabatino and
Logan Mummert each homered in the win. The Fighting Owls batted .500 in the shortened affair, going 15-for-30 with 18 walks and a hit by pitch. Harford batted around in the three of the four innings.
Hash and DiSabatino both crushed three-run home runs in the second inning, while Mummert's second-inning shot was of the two-run variety. DiSabatino, Mummert,
Joe Sheeran and
Jamal Clarke all had two hits and six Fighting Owls scored three times. Hash and DiSabatino chipped in with four RBIs.
Josh Houser (1-0) earned the win on a pitch count, tossing two innings, striking out five with his only blemish a second-inning base on balls.
Devin Chapman collected his first collegiate hit and
Zach Robinette pitched two scoreless innings of relief. DelCo scored all five of its runs in the top of the fifth, after being held without a hit in the first four frames.
The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was canceled due to foggy conditions. The Fighting Owls announced a few schedule changes. Harford will host SUNY Adirondack on Wednesday for a doubleheader starting at noon. Thursday's MD JUCO road contest against Cecil has been shifted to a Harford home match at 3 p.m.
