Baseball Bats Stay Hot In Sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford baseball team took a pair of ball games from Union County, 19-6 and 16-2, as the offense continues to pound opposing pitchers into submision. Harford (15-4) has scored double-digit runs in 12 of 15 games on the current home-stand, propelling themselves to the top of nearly every offensive category in the nation.

Harford 19, Union 6, Final/5
It was a balanced attack for the Fighting Owls in game one as every batter in the starting lineup registered at least one hit and scored at least one run. They nearly batted around twice, crossing the plate 11 times in the opening frame.

Dominic DiSabatino and Brett Hash continue to stand out in Harford's most potent lineup in recent memory. DiSabatino went three-for-three with a pair of triples and six runs batted-in. Hash went two-for-three with a triple and a home run (6), driving three runs. Both batters scored three runs each.

Logan Mummert joined in on the hit parade with multiple extra base hits. He went two-for-three with a double and a triple, while driving in a pair of runs. Brandon Smith went two-for-four with two runs batted-in. CJ Young and Jack Hamner had identical stat lines, going one-for-one with three walks and scored three runs scored.

Austin Griffie (2-0) got the win on the mound, pitching all five innings in the 10-run rule shortened affair. He allowed six runs on eight hits while striking out four.

Harford 16, Union 2, Final/5
There was very little drop off in production at the plate despite head coach Tom Eller sitting some of his regulars in the night cap. In fact, the Fighting Owls bested their game one start in game two, sending 17 batters to the plate and scoring 12 runs in the first inning in game two after sending 15 to the plate and scoring 11 runs in the same frame of game one.

Chase Demars and John Mastrangelo led the way for Harford in the rout. Demars sparked the rally in the first inning with an RBI triple to right field. He went two-for-three with two walks, two runs batted-in and two runs scored. Mastrangelo went two-for-three at the plate with a pair of doubles and three runs batted-in. He continues to be a powerful bat in the lineup while manning multiple positions on the diamond.

Anthony Governale went one-for-three at the plate with his lone hit being a bases-clearing double. Ben Bomberger and Colby Dean each had a double and a run driven in. As a team Harford pounded out 16 hits and drew 14 walks.

Josh Houser (2-1) had a strong outing on the mound for Harford, holding Union (1-5) hitless through the first three innings. He allowed two runs (both unearned) and surrendered just one hit and two walks over four innings pitched while striking out six. TJ Pagan came on in relief, needing just six pitches to pitch a flawless frame, tallying a strikeout to end the game.

Harford has posted a 14-1 record on their marathon home stand. They will look to add to that record as they host CCBC Dundalk in an MD JUCO conference tilt Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
