Box Score 2 ROCKVILLE, Md. - The Harford softball team (8-1, 2-0 MD JUCO) won its MD JUCO openers on Wednesday, sweeping Montgomery, 20-3 and 9-1. The Fighting Owls have won eight in a row.
Katie Shultz was the dominant force at the plate and on the rubber. She went 5-for-6 with seven RBIs on the day while scattering two hits in the complete game effort in game two. Shultz struck out 10 batters and looked dominant from the jump. She allowed one earned run in the fifth inning and hit two batters. At the dish, she went 2-for-2 and scored twice while knocking in three in the opener. In game two, she went 2-for-3 with a pair of two-run doubles.
Tori Brooks went 3-for-3 in the opener with four runs scored and three knocked in as six Fighting Owls had multiple hits and four others had three RBIs.
Desi Joines had two hits and three RBIs and struck out 13 batters in five innings. She did allow three runs, one earned in the win.
The Fighting Owls host Burlington County on Thursday at 3 p.m.
