BEL AIR, Md. - Another relentless attack at the plate led the No. 18 Harford baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of Allegany to move to 33-7 overall and 20-2 in the MD JUCO conference on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.
Â
The Fighting Owls hit five home runs in game one led by

Â
Harford 15, Allegany 5Three home runs in a game for a single player is a rare occurrence in baseball but Harford has had a player do it in back-to-back games.
Jack Hamner accomplished the fete Thursday against CCBC Catonsville and Mastrangelo matched him Saturday afternoon against Allegany. It was his third multi-homer game of the season. The freshman slugger extended his single-season school record to 14, ninth best in the nation.
Â
After walking in the first inning, Mastrangelo smashed a two-run shot in the third, a solo shot in the fourth and a two-run shot in the fifth inning to give Harford a walk-off win via the 10-run rule. Mastrangelo currently leads the nation with a 1.145 slugging percentage.
Â
It was a one-run game heading into the bottom of the fourth inning thanks to a two-run rally by Allegany (15-14, 6-8 MD JUCO). But Harford found another gear, scoring five runs in the fourth inning and six in the fifth.
Â
Joe Sheeran and
Colby Dean each went deep for Harford in the big innings for Harford. Sheeran hit the second of back-to-back jacks following Mastrangelo's shot in the fourth inning. It was the fifth of the year for Sheeran. Dean's blast led off the fifth inning and was the first of the season for the freshman outfielder.
Â
Anthony Atticks (4-2) got the win on the mound. He gave up five earned runs on six hits and a pair of walks while striking out three batters over 4 1/3 innings pitched.
Alex Brown came on in relief in the fifth inning. He pitched 2/3 of an inning, giving up two hits and a walk while striking out one. He allowed two inherited runners to score.
Â
The double play combo of
CJ Young and
Chase DeMars had nearly identical lines at the plate with three hits, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Young's double in the fourth inning highlighted a 3-for-4 day at the plate while DeMars' RBI double in the fifth put an exclamation point on his 3-for-3 day at the plate.
