Box Score 2 WINTERVILLE, N.C. - The Harford softball team dropped its season-opening doubleheader at Pitt CC on Saturday. The Fighting Owls were outscored 16-8 in the opener and shutout 10-0 in the nightcap.

In the opener, the Fighting Owls got on the board in the fourth when
Julia Sanders opened the frame with a single. Harford pieced together three singles, three walks, a pair of errors and a hit-by-pitch for six runs. They rebounded with in the fifth with
Lindsey Fenner's two-run single.
Fenner and Brittany Bergquiat both had two hits and five different Fighting Owls notched their first hits of the season.
Amanda Hildebrandt and
Bethanie Cook were the only two with a hit in each game, as Harford was held to three hits in game two. Hildebrandt went 2-for-2 in the nightcap and pitched well despite the loss. She was able to enduce timely groundballs and popups.
The Fighting Owls continue their opening weekend with two more against Pitt on Sunday.
