Box Score BEL AIR, Md. - Runs and strikeouts were abundant in Harford's 27-10 Sunday victory over Mercyhurst North East. The Fighting Owls posted back-to-back 11-run frames and
Josh Houser struck out a career-high 10 in the victory.
Jack Hamner's second-inning, two-out grand slam gave Harford a 4-2 lead before the offensive explosion put the game out of reach.
JP Vail and
Ty Williams both connected on home runs in the fourth inning.
Williams finished 2-for-3 with five RBIs, while
Chase DeMars and Vail knocked in three apiece. Every Fighting Owl batter tallied either a run or a hit in the rout.
Ben Bomberger went 3-for-3 and
Ronnie Krsolovic,
Joe Burton and
Toby Sponseller each recorded their first career hits.
Houser went four-plus to earn his first victory of the season. He allowed a run in the first two innings despite striking out five batters. After sitting during the first 11-run outburst, he allowed a two-run home run to Drew Delsignore, his second of the series.
The Fighting Owls are back in action on Tuesday with a doubleheader against Mercer County at home beginning at 1 p.m.
