Box Score 2 BALTIMORE - The Harford softball team dropped a pair of 8-0 contests at CCBC Catonsville on Thursday in the MD JUCO opener.
The defending champs hung tough in the opener, allowing all eight runs in the final inning. A pair of early errors in the frame did them in as seven of the eight runs charged to
Amanda Hildebrandt were unearned.
In the fourth inning of the scoreless opener, Hildebrandt pitched out of a major jam. The first two batters reached on error and stood in scoring position with no outs. the freshman pitcher induced a pair of pop outs in foul territory sandwiched around a big strikeout to keep the game scoreless.
The Fighting Owl offense was stiffled all afternoon, however. Harford managed four hits in the opener, two by sophomore
Lindsey Fenner, but we held scoreless.
In the nightcap,
Jazmyn Gutshall went 2-for-2 in the losing effort as the Fighting Owls netted six hits.Â
The Fighting Owls return home on Sunday for a pair against Cayuga, beginning at noon.
