Box Score 2 BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford softball team (1-11, 0-4 MD JUCO) was swept at home by Southern Maryland (6-4, 4-0 MD JUCO) on Wednesday. The Fighting Owls were no-hit 12-0 in the opener and fell 9-5 in the nightcap.
Lori Sturgill tossed a perfect game in the five-inning opener, setting down all 15 Fighting Owls and striking out four. The Hawks used a three-run first and eight-run third offensively to pull away.
In game two, a late-inning Harford rally came up short. Trailing 9-1 and facing another run-rule loss, the Fighting Owls bounced back with two in the sixth and a pair in the seventh off a triple by
Lindsey Fenner, but the sophomore slugger was stranded at third to end the game.
Harford collected seven hits, including two from Fenner.
Harford travels to Cecil on Friday.
