Box Score 2 NORTH EAST, Md. - The Harford softball team battled in a road MD JUCO doubleheader but dropped both contests at Cecil. The Fighting Owls fell 11-3 in the opener and 7-6 in the nightcap.
Harford 3, Cecil 11The Fighting Owls allowed a five-run third and four-run sixth to fall in game one.
Amanda Hildebrandt and
Emily Wikane both tallied a pair of hits in the loss.
Wikane connected on a two-out, two-run single in the fifth to pull closer, plating Hildebrandt and
Bethanie Cook to make the score 7-3.
Jazmyn Gutshall doubled to open the third and she scored on Cook's single to knot the score at 1-1.
Harford 6, Cecil 7The Fighting Owls lost a 6-3 lead in the final two innings when the Seahawks rallied for a run in the sixth and three in their last at-bat.
Harford took a commanding lead with four runs in the top of the third, taking advantage of Cecil errors.
Julia Sanders started the spurt with a single and she scored during Cook's at bat, as the shortstop reached on an error. Hildebrandt brought her home with a single. Wikane and Hildebrandt changed places on a fielder's choice and she scored on another error during Gutshall's at-bat. Gutshall came around to score on a groundout by
Lindsey Fenner.
Cecil would turn the tables in the final inning, taking advantage of a few Harford errors to rally for the walkoff win. In the decisive seventh, the Seahawks collected a single, a double and a triple, reached base on a base on balls and were the beneficiaries of a pair of Fighting Owl errors.
The Fighting Owls game against Richard Bland on Sunday has been cancelled due to poor weather.
