Box Score NORTH EAST, Md. - The first-place Harford baseball team (16-6, 7-1 MD JUCO) earned a tough road win against conference power Cecil (7-10, 5-3 MD JUCO) on Tuesday, 15-7. The potent Harford offense posted crooked numbers in six innings, including a five-run ninth to put the game away.
The Fighting Owls totaled 13 hits, including six for extra bases and a pair of mammoth home runs off the hot bats of
Daulton Weeks and
Joe Burton. Burton went 4-for-5 with a double and six RBIs while Weeks reached base three times, scoring three times and knocking in a pair. Weeks leads the MD JUCO with seven home runs and Burton is second with five.
Jack Hamner returned to the lineup and went 3-for-6 in the leadoff spot, setting the pace for the Fighting Owls and
Dominic DiSabatino reached base every time in his new spot in the lineup, collecting a double and a stolen base while scoring three times.
Michael Devecchio improved to 3-2 on the hill, tossing 4.2 innings of relief work while striking out seven. He currently ranks second in the MD JUCO with 45 whiffs, just two behind the league leader.
TJ Pagan came in to face one batter in the eighth, recording a strikeout, and
Will Reed came in to what would have been a save situation in the ninth, if not for the five-run outburst in the top half of the final inning, striking out one batter.
Anthony Apreda got the start and allowed five early runs, but left after three innings with the lead.
Harford travels to Prince George's on Thursday for a 3 p.m. start.
