Box Score LARGO, Md. – The Harford baseball team scraped out a 4-2 win over Prince George's on a windy afternoon Thursday.
Harford (17-6, 8-1 MD JUCO) has won their last 10 games in a row. The offense was largely held at bay. They managed seven hits in the game but failed to string together multiple base hits in any inning. However they did manage to draw five walks and had three batters hit by pitch.
The Fighting Owls scored twice in the fourth and twice more in the fifth inning. In the fourth inning,
Dominic DiSabatino's bunt single was their only hit. They scored on a failed back pick attempt by the Prince George's catcher and a bases loaded hit by pitch with
Max Joseph at the plate.
They were able to plate two in the fifth unconventionally as a leadoff single by
Jack Hamner, a swinging bunt, was the team's only hit in the inning. After
Chase DeMars was hit by pitch,
Daulton Weeks grounded to third for a fielder's choice. Hamner was forced out at third but the ensuing throw to first for the attempted double play was wayward, scoring DeMars all the way from second. Weeks advanced to third on the error and scored on a
Joe Burton sacrifice fly.
Fighting Owl pitchers were solid again on the mound.
Michael Adams (4-0) earned the win. He pitched five scoreless frames, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out five.
Will Reed pitched around a single, a walk and an error in the field to earn the save. He surrendered an unearned run while striking out a pair in the ninth to lock down the win.
TJ Pagan tossed a perfect frame in the eighth to earn a hold, striking out one.
Harford will play a pair against Erie Friday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
