Box Score 2 FREDERICK, Md. - The Harford softball team (10-24, 4-12 MD JUCO) earned a big road sweep over Frederick (11-16, 8-7 MD JUCO) on Saturday. The Fighting Owls earned a shutout win in the opener, 4-0, and scored the final five runs in the last two innings to win game two, 6-2.
Harford 4, Frederick 0
Amanda Hildebrandt tossed her fifth shutout of the season, a three-hitter, in the opener. The freshman struck out three, didn't walk a batter and retired 11 of the final 12 batters for the win.
Offensively, Harford gave Hildebrandt all the support she needed just three batters into the game. Bethanie Cook reached on an error and scored on Emily Wikane's ground out for an early 1-0 lead.
Hildebrandt doubled home Wikane in the fourth and other scored on a passed ball for a 3-0 advantage. She also scored the fourth run on Lindsey Fenner's double.
Harford 6, Frederick 2
The Cougars took a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning, but a total team effort in the final two innings catapulted the Fighting Owls to the sweep.
Harford took the lead when Fenner and Brittany Bergquist executed a double steal. Fenner touched home for a 3-2 lead before Bergquist was called out to end the inning.
In the seventh, Jazmyn Gutshall launched her first career home run for some insurance and Fenner doubled home two more.
Hildebrandt, who scattered four hits in game two, retired the side in order in the bottom of the seventh to secure the win.
