Box Score BEL AIR, Md. - The No. 20 Harford baseball team claimed its 39th win of the season with a late-inning outburst against Rowan-Burlington County (17-19) on Thursday, winning 18-5. The Fighting Owls scored 15 runs in the final two innings to erase a 4-3 defecit.
Six different Fighting Owls posted a multi-hit contest in the win, led by
Jack Hamner and
Daulton Weeks who both had three hits. Hamner went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and Weeks went 3-for-3 with three runs scored.
Hamner laced a triple to lead off the first inning and brought in a pair on an double to the left center gap in the fifth to break a 4-4 tie. Just two batters earlier,
Kyle Burger tied things up with a two-out single up the middle after battling through an eight-pitch at bat.
Dominic DiSabatino went 2-for-4 with four RBIs in the win. The shortstop set the Harford career runs scored record with his two runs against the Barons, giving him 113 in his two-year career.
Chase DeMars extended his hit streak to 12 games with a pair of hits and
Joe Burton and
Andrew Valichka also had two hits in the win.
Anthony Apreda improved to 3-1, scattering five hits in 5.2 innings of work. He allowed five runs, but just two were earned, while striking out seven and walking five.
John Brubaker entered the game in the sixth inning in a jam, facing the tying run in an 8-5 contest. He induced a pop-up and then finished the contest with a 13-run cushion, earning his first career save.
The Fighting Owls travel to Chesapeake on Friday for an MD JUCO doubleheader. Harford needs just one win to clinch both the MD JUCO Championship and the top seed in the Region XX Championship.
