Box Score 2 CUMBERLAND, Md. - The Harford softball team earned an MD JUCO split at Allegany on Tuesday. The Fighting Owls took game one, 8-0, but committed seven errors en route to a 7-6 loss.
Harford 8, Allegany 0Amanda Hildebrandt tossed her second career shutout in the opener, scattering three hits and striking out a career-high five without walking a batter. She had three 1-2-3 innings and allowed a pair of singles in the fourth and one in the sixth.
The top of the order did all the damage in the win, as the first four hitters all recording two hits.
Emily Wikane smacked a home run to center,
Bethanie Cook legged out a triple and Hildebrandt collected a double. Julie Sanders chipped in with a pair of RBI-singles andÂ
Brittany Bergquist walled all three plate appearnaces, scoring once.
Allegany 7, Harford 6After allowing four runs in the first thanks to a pair of miscues, the Fighting Owls rallied to take a 6-4 lead in the third inning. The trojans would battle back for their first win of the season, totaling three runs on four singles and an error in the fifth.
Bergquist brought home the first and sixth runs for Harford on RBI-singles in the second and third innings.
Lindsey Fenner went 3-for-4 in the nightcap, scoring twice and Sanders also had a pair of hits, including a double.
The Fighting Owls host Northampton on Thursday.
