Eastern District Field Set For Baseball

BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford baseball team will host the 2016 NJCAA Eastern District Tournament from Friday-Sunday, May 20-22. The Fighting Owls earned the top seed in the four-team, double-elimination bracket as the Region XX Champions.

The 2016 Region X Tournament Champions from Pitt CC in North Carolina will open the tournament on Friday at 2 p.m. against the 2016 Region XV Tournament Champions from Monroe College in New York. The Fighting Owls will follow with their first contest against Spartanburg Methodist, the 2016 Region X Regular Season Champions, at 6 p.m.

The Tournament continues on Saturday at 11 a.m. and a winner will be crowned on Championship Sunday, beginning at 11 a.m. For a complete seven-game schedule, see below. Every contest will be aired live on Fighting Owl Vision (www.HarfordAthletics.com/watch) and live stats will be provided at this link: sidearmstats.com/harford/baseball/. Tickets for the event are available at the Harford Sports Complex at $10 per day or $15 for an All-Tournament Pass.

Harford won its third Region XX Title in five years on Sunday, defeating Potomac State 11-2 in the Championship Game. The potent Fighting Owl offensive attack has been a four-headed monster as of late. Daulton Weeks leads the team with a Harford-record 18 home runs and 75 RBIs. The third baseman hit a pair of long balls in the Championship Game against Potomac State to set the career home run record at 23. Dominic DiSabatino has shifted to the leadoff position and continued his assault on the Harford record books. Along with Weeks on the left side of the Harford infield, the two are the only members of the 100-run/100-RBI club in Fighting Owl history. Joe Burton leads the team with a .433 batting average and a .535 on-base percentage and Chase DeMars is the fourth member of the group with at least a dozen home runs. The four Fighting Owls have combined for 59 home runs and 247 RBIs.

The Fighting Owls pitching staff has been just as sharp down the stretch, led by a pair of sophomore righthanders. Both Michael Adams and Josh Silvestri are 10-0 on the season as Adams leads the team with a 2.36 earned-run average while racking up 64 strikeouts and Silvestri leads the team with 86 Ks with a 3.90 ERA. Lefthander Michael Devecchio owns a 6-2 mark with 74 strikeouts and a 4.39 ERA. TJ Pagan has been one of many stellar options out of the bullpen, posting a 3.96 ERA with eight saves, including one on Saturday against Potomac State.
