HAGERSTOWN, Md- The Harford men's soccer team suffered a crushing blow as they fell to Hagerstown 3-1. The loss drops the Fighting Owls to 3-5 on the season and 2-3 in conference play.
Despite controlling the majority of possession and out shooting the home team, Harford struggled throughout the day to find the back of the net. That was not the case for the Hawks as they were able to net twice in the first 20 minutes; taking advantage of their chances.
It wasn't until the 37th minute that the Fighting Owls efforts paid off when a set piece was put into the Hagerstown box and was pinballed around. The Hawks could only manage a weak clearance that came out to
Brandon Klepetka, who hit the ball right back into the box and
Larsen Green was able to poke it in to cut the Hawks lead to a single goal.
Hagerstown continued to play conservatively in the second half, and were able to score in the 70th minute on a counter attack that sealed the win for the Hawks.
The schedule doesn't get any easier for the Fighting Owls as they host powerhouse rivals Essex on Friday, September 23rd at 7 PM in Harford Stadium.
