BEL AIR, Md. – The Harford Men's Soccer fell to Montgomery, 1-0 as their offensive woes continued.
Harford (1-3-0, 0-1-0 MD JUCO) played a much better game overall as they created more scoring chances and were able to hold Montgomery (3-3-1, 2-0-0 MD JUCO) to just one goal after surrendering 11 goals in the previous two games.
The Raptors took a 1-0 lead in the 13
th minute as Jason Davila, assisted by Chris Rivera, was able to beat Harford keeper
Tanner Peterson. The game was played fairly even from that point on as both teams created chances but were not able to break through.
Seeking an equalizer, the Fighting Owls began to press higher up the pitch to try to create more chances without the ball. They got exactly what they were looking for in the 70
th minute when they drew a penalty on a Montgomery handball in the box. Unfortunately for Harford, they were unable to take advantage as
Ayoub Fouadi hit the crossbar with his spot kick.
Caleb Hebb had a chance to atone for the mistake as he picked up the rebound but he hit the post with his shot.
Larsen Green got the rebound but, with the mad scramble going on around him, he was only able to get a weak shot off which was saved easily.
The game was somewhat contentious from start to finish with seven cards being shown. The Fighting Owls had four players carded in the match while Montgomery had two players carded.
Craig Kutchey was carded twice as he received a yellow in the first half and a straight red for his part in a skirmish in the final minute of the contest. He will have to sit out the next two matches for the Fighting Owls.
Harford will play their next four matches away from home beginning with their MD JUCO clash with Howard on Friday at 2 p.m.
