 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • With the Fighting Owls coming off a bad 4-0 loss at Essex a week prior, a better overall performance was needed as they hosted the always solid Frederick Cougars.
  • Frederick had a few early chances to make the home crowd a bit nervy, especially when the Cougar's leading scorer had a chance in the middle of the box that was blocked by Jason Stump to prevent any damage to the scoreboard.
  • Harford's Corey Alt had a couple of glorious chances from point blank range saved by the Frederick goalkeeper including a breakaway that seemed destined to get Harford a goal.
  • With just under five minutes left in the first half, Eder Arcanjo was fouled 25 yards away from the Cougars goal to give Harford a great opportunity from the middle of the field. Henrique Castilho and his powerful left foot hit a shot off the bottom of the cross bar that went straight down, bounced up into the cross bar again but was determined to have crossed the goal line to give Castilho his first goal of the season.
  • Both teams struggled to get many good chances towards goal in the second half as it was a physical battle between the two squads with injuries stacking up.
  • Frederick went down to 10 men as midfielder Michael Bolou picked up his second yellow in the 77th minute of the game to put the Cougars in a really tough spot.
  • The Fighting Owls were able to add an insurance goal with 10 minutes left in the game as an Eder Arcanjo cross found Victor Prado on the back post as Prado smashed it home for his fourth of the year to close out the game.
